Aids Walk New York 2009

This Sunday, May 17, 45,000 New Yorkers are expected to hit the streets for the 24th annual AIDS Walk New York (AWNY), benefiting Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and more than 40 local AIDS service organizations.

This year, despite the challenging economic times, the event has surpassed expectations by raising record-breaking corporate sponsorship dollars and registering more fundraising teams than ever before.


Special Guests who will speak at the Opening Ceremony include:
Actress and Singer Hilary Duff; Carson Kressley (How to Look Good Naked, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy);
Brooke Smith (Grey’s Anatomy, The Silence of the Lambs); Michael Urie (Ugly Betty); and CBS 2 anchors Dana Tyler and Chris Wragge.

Additional keynotes to include:
Dr. Marjorie J. Hill, PhD, CEO of Gay Men’s Health Crisis; Craig R. Miller, Founder/Producer of AIDS Walk New York.

Executives from AWNY’s Premier Sponsors Bristol-Myers Squibb, Delta Air Lines, and Duane Reade are
also expected to address the crowd.

Special musical performances by:
Broadway Star Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid, Les Miserables) will perform “We Live on Borrowed Time” from his debut album Here’s to Life; Sarah Dash (Labelle) will perform Rodgers & Hammerstein's, “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
